I came across this blog post today and it got me wondering ... how do I define the purpose of my blog? I basically just comment on anything I see/read/hear in my life. A little bit of technology, politics/social issues, humour, a fair bit of programming. It's also a place where I show my skills for prospective employers. So my question becomes this - is it fair to have a single blog for all these purposes?

My primary reason for doing this is simply for myself - I prefer to have a single place where I can express myself. This is probably because I refer back to my own blog posts quite often (as odd as that sounds). It's more of a diary + portfolio, really, and I think in the context of a blog, that's probably fine.

I'm willing to learn, and discuss counter arguments, of course. I may be in I.T. but that doesn't mean I'm a guru of all things tech-related!
