Apple Alienating I.T. Companies
I'm not fan of Flash - anyone who knows me would attest to that. However, I will admit that it has it's place in the world. I do enjoy my little Flash games, as to millions of others.
Apparently, Apple doesn't give a toss.
First they slagged off Java (funny position, since their CPU for the iPhone was specifically designed to run Java), then they slagged off Flash, and then ultimately made it impossible for both to exist on their shitty little toy, as we can see from the recent news of Adobe abandoning any push into iPhone.
What we have here is more and more evidence of Steve Jobs' arrogance - the self same arrogance that got them beaten by Windows. SVG, AJAX, HTML 5, WEB 2.0 can never do everything either Flash or Java can do!!!
So, the tally - Apple has no completely alienated (either recently, or historically) Sun, Oracle, Adobe, Microsoft, IBM. As far as I'm concerned, every single person who own an Apple product is a twat! Wake up, people!
Ultimately, I suppose you have to ask - what's the risk to Apple with this behavior? By alienating Sun and Oracle, they risk not having enterprise level application servers or Oracle database support. By alienating Adobe, they risk lack of future support for Photoshop (given Apple's insignificant desktop market share, I imagine this is more real than pundits would have you believe). By alienating IBM, they run the same risks as with Sun/Oracle (with with DB2 database).
It's amusing how on one hand, Apple milks open-source software (core of MacOS X, MySQL, PHP, Samba, etc.) yet on the other hand shutting out the ability for anyone to do anything on their platforms.
Ridiculous is an understatement.
