New code Milestone
According to Ohloh.net, I have passed 200 commits across my open source projects.
Although this is a nice personal milestone, it does highlight the problem with a 9-5 job - no time for open-source development. I have so many projects I'd like to keep working on, but literally no time to do it in.
This does raise an interesting question - should a company which relies on open-source software to operate (such as just about every IT company I've worked for in recent years) be more open to allowing their staff a little time to develop open-source?
I obviously don't mean hours upon hours of time dedicated to open-source, but given so many small businesses thrive on the work of others (as is the vision of open-source, so I'm not condemning here), doesn't it make moral sense to contribute at least something back?
