PHP 5.3
This post is a bit of a b*tch-fest, so please excuse me. I really do hate to be one of "those" guys who whines about something in Open Source without contributing directly to the project in question, but I just have to on this one.
As you can guess from the title, in project in question in PHP, and the 5.3 branch. What's bugging me is the lack of adoption on the various Linux distros. I do understand the task is not a quick one to bring in a new/upgraded package, but honestly, according in the PHP site, 5.3 was released 30 June 2009. We're now at the end of February 2010, and still no real sign of it for either Ubuntu or Debian (the 2 main distros I use), nor even for CentOS (my home server distro).
With so many awesome features, it's becoming painful waiting for it to be widely available. I'm feeling a little "stone-age" when I have to use "create_function" instead of using 5.3's new anonymous functions.
I do know that I could "compile from source", but to me that defeats the point of the package management systems. I'll admit it, I'm lazy. I want the package management system to worry about upgrades and applying patches and meeting all dependencies. Don't hate me for this - that's why people made these systems, after all.
BRING ON 5.3 ALREADY!

As of March 4th, PHP 5.3.2 is available, and still zero proper support on Ubuntu or Debian. I guess it's not particularly surprising - PHP 5.2.12 is the current 5.2 branch, and Ubuntu is still on 5.2.10, so I'm going to guess they have their hands full.
Today, Apr 30th 2010, Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is officially released ... AND THEY'VE INCLUDED PHP 5.3!!!! FINALLY!!! THANK YOU CANONICAL!!
