Haiku Goes Alpha
Much to my delight, I've discovered that Haiku (the open source BeOS clone) has gone into alpha stage. Why do I find this delightful? Well, I think having multiple OS's in the world not only offers choice, but stimulates inventiveness. Imagine if all we had was Windows, and absolutely no competition. There would be no reason for Microsoft to ever improve it.
Back in the old BeOS days, I was always impressed with it's multitasking and media, and the fact that back then it was already multi-CPU ready far beyond what Windows NT was capable of. If Haiku was designed the same way, it should absolutely rock on modern hardware.
I certainly look forward to giving this a run.
